When We Defend Lawyers, We Defend Liberty
What's the difference between a lawyer and a mosquito?" ...One wears a suit.
We’ve all heard the jokes. Lawyers are often portrayed as bloodsuckers, sharks, or worse. So, as top-tier law firms become targets of government retaliation, it is not surprising that the public thus far appears indifferent. But let’s be clear: these attacks are not just aimed at big firms. They are an assault on the foundational principles of our legal system.
At Nolan Heimann, we believe in the adversarial process - a system where every party has the right to competent representation, no matter how politically inconvenient that representation might be. When the federal government issues executive orders designed to punish law firms for representing opposing viewpoints, it’s not just the firms that are under attack - it’s the rule of law itself.
No matter the political climate, no administration should be allowed to intimidate lawyers into silence. And yet, it takes courage, even for billion-dollar firms, to stand up to federal power. But courage is part of the oath we took. Our duty is not to comfort or comply with power, but to protect the integrity of our system, defend due process, and ensure every individual’s right to be heard.
When we defend lawyers, we defend liberty.
